Why Does Cannabis Affect Everyone Differently?

Cannabis will affect everyone very differently. When it comes to CBD specifically, most can expect a feel-good response from the body to the medicinal oil, however, there are many factors that will vary from person to person. For one, a person’s genetics may affect the likelihood of someone feel psychotic effects to cannabis and have memory impairment from THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. This may be due to the endocannabinoids that are already found in one’s body, therefore when consuming cannabis, you are adding in more to the body.

Another factor is a person’s biological sex. Women tend to find more pain relief than men and therefore men will need to consume more to receive the same effects. In addition, men are more likely to get the munchies than women. Lastly, THC works closely with estrogen and therefore women at different stages of their menstrual cycle may see a higher effect than other times.

A person’s overall health can also affect how cannabis hits. For those with PTSD or fibromyalgia, cannabis will feel very different than someone without those medical conditions. In fact, for those with these conditions, that may feel more normal with the help of cannabis. The last factor worth mentioning is a person’s tolerance. Some have a higher tolerance naturally while some will build up their tolerance over time. For all of these reasons and more, it can be difficult to predict how someone would react to cannabis.
